The ICT Department has confirmed the laboratories, software and network capacity needed for the Faculty of Engineering to offer two new honours degrees.
In a memorandum to the Dean of Studies, the Director of Information and Communication Technology, Mr Tinevimbo Chikondowa, confirmed that the department will provision and maintain the digital infrastructure required for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Polymer Science, Engineering & Technology and the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Packaging Science, Engineering & Technology.
Specialised laboratories
Students will work in computer laboratories equipped for polymer processing, molecular modelling, structural mechanics and digital manufacturing, including computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) tools, process modelling applications, simulation suites and data analytics software.
Network, learning and library support
Campus-wide high-speed internet will support data-intensive polymer research and cloud-based engineering data management. The Learning Management System will be configured for flexible and blended delivery, and the Library will provide access to academic journals, e-books and international standards repositories.
The department has committed to ongoing maintenance, system upgrades and administrative support as the programmes grow.
